SSH Monitoring
SSH monitoring performs a real handshake against your SSH endpoint — verifying the service answers, measuring connect time, and catching exposure where you expect it closed.
The door you actually need to reach — or to prove is locked
What it checks
- SSH protocol handshake and banner
- Connect latency to port 22 (or your custom port)
- Unexpected exposure on hosts that should be closed
Set it up
- 1Add an SSH monitor per host and port
- 2Use allowlisted probe IPs to keep the service firewalled
- 3Alert on failure — or on unexpected success
FAQ
Does the check authenticate?
It performs the protocol handshake without logging in — the service-level signal, not a credential test. For login event detection, the internal agent watches auth.log on the host itself.
